Piano City Milano Returns with 270 Free Concerts Across 150 Venues

The 14th edition of Piano City Milano will take place from May 17 to 19, 2024, featuring over 270 concerts in more than 150 locations across Milan, all free and open to the public. Organized by Associazione Piano City Milano in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and supported by the Ministry of Culture, the festival is directed by Ricciarda Belgiojoso and Titti Santini. The program spans jazz, classical, pop, and electronic music. Key venues include GAM – Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Pinacoteca di Brera, Museo Archeologico, Triennale, ADI Design Museum, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Museo Interattivo del Cinema, Museo della Scienza, and Teatro alla Scala. Mayor Giuseppe Sala praised the festival for bringing great piano music to the entire city, while Culture Councillor Tommaso Sacchi highlighted its role in discovering new spaces. Special attention is given to peripheral areas, such as an event by Okapia Onlus with Pietro Morello in Piazzale Selinunte. The festival opens on May 17 at 9:30 PM in the GAM park with the film-concert "RYUICHI SAKAMOTO | OPUS," directed by Neo Sora, featuring the late Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto's last performance. Other highlights include a dawn concert by pianist Ji Liu at Teatro Continuo di Burri in Sempione, and events in private homes and outlying towns like Lodi and Monza.
