PhotoVogue Festival debuts in Milan with 'The Female Gaze' exhibition

The first PhotoVogue Festival in Italy opens at BASE in Milan, running until November 26, 2016. The central exhibition, 'The Female Gaze,' curated by Alessia Glaviano and Chiara Bardelli Nonin, presents a series of photographic works where women are both creators and subjects, subverting the historical male gaze. The show features images by Vanessa Beecroft, Sarah Moon, Juno Calypso, Cindy Sherman, Arvida Byström, Zanele Muholi, Lalla Assia Essaydi, Namsa Leuba, Ellen Von Unwerth, Donna Trope, and Camilla Akrans. The festival includes multiple photographic exhibitions across Milan, all organized by Vogue, which serves as a platform for women's reappropriation of their own image.
