Photography Exhibition Documents 100-Day Mobilization Against Discrimination in Lodi

A photography exhibition titled '100 giorni di mobilitazione per i bambini di Lodi' opened on December 13, 2019, exactly one year after the Milan Civil Court condemned the Municipality of Lodi for discriminatory practices against foreign children seeking access to subsidized school meal services. The exhibition, held at the exhibition space in Corso Roma 139, Lodi, features 25 photographs by four photographers: Luca Alfieri, Michele Porcelluzzi, Simona Iurlaro, and Federico Gaudenzi. It was organized by associations that fought to reverse municipal regulation changes that made it harder for non-EU citizens to access reduced-rate services, including school meals. The event also involved Aosta-based photojournalist Ugo Lucio Borga, who has spent the last 15 years photographing global conflicts. A catalog is available for purchase via donation. Organizers stated the goal is to keep the memory alive, emphasizing that the city was struck by serious discrimination but a large part of the community reacted to affirm the right to equality. The mobilization involved foreign families, associations, and many Lodi citizens who organized into a coordination committee. The exhibition and catalog trace key moments of the experience to preserve the accumulated experience and relationships built during the campaign.
