Photographers Chase Total Solar Eclipse Across Europe

On August 12, 2026, photographers from around the globe convened in Europe to witness a total solar eclipse. Angel Fux, representing Nikon, captured the phenomenon in central Spain at 7:30 p.m., overcoming difficulties posed by atmospheric turbulence. She described this as her inaugural eclipse and highlighted it as her favorite due to the unique conditions. Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy made his way to Ibiza, working alongside a ship's captain to document the Moon's shadow and the Sun's corona, finding totality to be awe-inspiring. In San Millán de los Caballeros, NASA photographer Bill Ingalls recorded the event. The eclipse was observable in Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, the Atlantic Ocean, Spain, and Portugal.
