Photographer Rasel Chowdhury wins 2016 Samdani Art Award at Dhaka Art Summit

Rasel Chowdhury has been named the recipient of the 2016 Samdani Art Award, an announcement made during the Dhaka Art Summit on February 10, 2016. This award, which takes place every two years, is presented by the Samdani Art Foundation, located in Dhaka, and is designed for emerging Bangladeshi artists aged between 22 and 40. Chowdhury was chosen from a group of 13 finalists that included notable names like Shumon Ahmed and Gazi Nafis Ahmed. As part of the award, he will enjoy a fully funded three-month residency at the Delfina Foundation in London, aimed at boosting the international presence and support for Bangladeshi artists.
