Photographer Guido Cecere Found Dead in Trieste Sea

On August 10, 2019, the remains of Guido Cecere, a distinguished photographer, art director, and academic, were discovered near Trieste's old pier. Identification confirmed his identity; Cecere, who was born in Bari in 1947, had been reported missing three days prior. He had been involved in photography since 1972 and held teaching positions at ISIA Urbino, the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, and ISIA Pordenone. Additionally, he was part of the scientific committee for the Alinari Museum and curated exhibitions like "Oscura camera" in Gorizia. In 1994, he won the Best European Photographic Calendar at the Frankfurt Book Fair and published 60 calendars along with several books, prompting an outpouring of tributes on his Facebook page from friends and colleagues.
