Enrico Cattaneo, a Milanese photographer known for his work with artists and galleries, has died. Born in 1933, he began photography in the mid-1950s, initially as a photojournalist in postwar Milan. He later became a key figure in documenting contemporary art, working with galleries such as Massimo Valsecchi's in Milan, where he photographed exhibitions of Kudo, the Poirier, Baruchello, Hamish Fulton, and David Tremlett. His iconic image includes Gino De Dominicis' "Second Solution of Immortality" featuring a kitten. Cattaneo also maintained a personal artistic practice, creating surrealist and materially refined photographs. He was associated with the Realisti Esistenziali group and collaborated with Sandro Luporini. His archive is housed in his home-studio in Milan.
