Photofairs Shanghai Celebrates Fifth Anniversary with Expanded Program

From September 21 to 23, 2018, the Shanghai Exhibition Center hosts the fifth anniversary of Photofairs Shanghai, the inaugural art fair in China focusing on photography and cinematography. This event features 50 galleries representing 16 countries and introduces a broadened public program divided into five sections: Staged, Connected, Spotlight, Insights, and Conversations. At the entrance, Italian artist Giovanni Ozzola showcases a two-part wallpaper installation, while Galleria Continua highlights works by Hiroshi Sugimoto in the Spotlight section. The Connected segment will debut Joseph Chen's Chongqing Detour. Since its inception in 2014, Photofairs has significantly elevated the profile of photography in China, leading to a 250% rise in exhibitions and the establishment of four major photography museums by 2017.
