Photo London returns to new Olympia venue for 11th edition with expanded sections
Photo London returns for its 11th iteration at the refurbished Olympia, a new venue. The fair's leadership team—director Sophie Parker (since 2024), Discovery curator Charlotte Jansen (third year), and Source curator Tristan Lund (previously curated Discovery 2017-2019)—emphasize their collaborative, long-term approach. The fair features more Discovery galleries than ever, a new Source section for solo presentations curated by Lund, a Positions section for unrepresented artists curated by Maria Sukkar, a screening room for films, and a focus on galleries from Central Eastern Europe and Latin America. Parker notes the fair is only slightly larger in square meterage but better utilizes space. The team highlights nurturing emerging galleries, growing new collectors with affordable prints (some as low as £100), and year-round support. Lund observes that despite a cautious art market, 19 galleries committed to Source's riskier solo presentations, including Galerie Julian Sander showing Rosalind Fox Solomon's Portraits in the Time of AIDS (1988). Jansen stresses the increasing importance of fairs as institutions face funding cuts. The fair runs 13–17 May at National Hall, Olympia, London.
