Photo London Relocates to Olympia, Boosts Sales and Solo Booths

festival-fair · 2026-05-08

Photo London opened at its new home in Olympia’s Grand Hall on 13 May 2026, running until 17 May. The move from Somerset House, where the fair had been held for a decade, was driven by gallery demands for a more business-friendly venue. Olympia's open layout and better light were praised by exhibitors and visitors. Sales were brisk: Paris-B Gallery sold three works for £100,000, including two by Yang Yongliang; In Camera sold both a vintage and modern print of Jane Evelyn Atwood's 'Auto Portrait (Serpent)' for £13,000 and £2,000 respectively. Robert Hershkowitz sold works by PH Emerson and Frederick Fiebig. Radius Publishing sold 40% of its stock by Thursday lunchtime. The fair introduced a new 'Source' initiative for solo artist booths, curated by Tristan Lund, featuring presentations by Alfredo Jaar (with Goodman Gallery), Ute and Werner Mahler (Peter Sellem), Rosalind Fox Solomon (Julian Sander), and Hélène Binet (Large Glass). Two Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize shortlistees—Atwood and Weronika Gęsicka (shown by JEDNOSTKA)—were present; winner Rene Matić was not. Director Sophie Parker noted a resurgence of interest in traditional photographic techniques and connoisseurship, partly as a reaction to AI. The fair also expanded its Discovery section and gave more space to independent publishers. Olympia's ongoing £1.3bn refurbishment continues into 2027.
