Photo London 2022: A Subdued Edition at Somerset House

Photo London 2022 took place at Somerset House and experienced a quieter vibe, largely due to the absence of numerous American galleries and its close timing to the September 2021 event. The fair showcased both emerging and established talents, featuring contemporary and historical photography, along with NFTs. While some galleries opted for solo exhibitions, others organized group displays. The talks program highlighted 23 artists, and several galleries committed to donating a portion of sales to aid Ukraine. Italian photographers such as Massimo Vitali and Francesco Bosso were included, yet only one Italian gallery, Podbielsky Contemporary, was present. Gallerist Pierre André Podbielski remarked on lower sales compared to Paris Photo. Retrospectives celebrated Frank Horvat (1928–2020) and Nick Knight, who was named Master of Photography 2022.
