Phonetics: New Independent Publishing Fair Debuts in Turin During Art Week

A new independent publishing fair called Phonetics will launch in Turin from October 31 to November 2, 2025, coinciding with the city's art week and the contemporary art fair Artissima. The event is organized by publishing house Axis Axis and bookshop Paint It Black, and will be held at Paint It Black's venue at Via Carlo Michele Buscalioni 4. Phonetics focuses on language as a medium to be explored, deconstructed, and reinvented, featuring not only books but also performances, readings, sound installations, and discussions between the public and cultural operators. The organizers describe it as a space for experimentation where publishers, artists, and readers meet among books, sounds, images, texts, and bodies, fostering dialogue and collective research. The gastronomic offering is curated by Ailimē for beverages and by Alice Guarini and Edoardo La Ferrara for food, emphasizing technique, imagination, seasonality, and diverse traditions. Axis Axis is a publishing house that explores the possibilities and limits of language, specializing in concrete and sound poetry, experimental literature, and transcriptions of texts not intended for print.
