Phillips unveils auction highlights in Milan ahead of London sales

Phillips is previewing works from its upcoming Modern & Contemporary Art auctions in London at Palazzo Visconti in Milan from September 17 to 19, 2024. The lots, sourced from prominent Italian collections, include Marino Marini's Il Cavaliere Azzurro (1952, estimate £600,000-900,000), Carla Accardi's Segni Neri (1967, estimate £80,000-120,000), Salvo's Punta del Hidalgo (circa 1990, estimate £50,000-70,000), and Andy Warhol's Guns (1981). The preview also features works available for private sale, including pieces by Francesca Mollet (Untitled, 2020, estimate £20,000-30,000), Ariana Papademetropoulos, and Chloe Wise. Papademetropoulos's post-surrealist painting, shown at Massimo De Carlo gallery in Milan, depicts nature bursting into a bourgeois interior. Wise's portrait of a woman on a red background evokes Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Ecstasy of Saint Teresa. The interiors of Palazzo Visconti were redesigned by Luigi Caccia Dominioni. Phillips opened its first Italian office in Milan to serve clients and the public. The London auctions are scheduled for October 10-11, 2024.
