Phillips Showcases Auction Highlights in Milan During Art Week and Salone del Mobile

Phillips is presenting a selection of highlights from upcoming auctions and private sales in Milan, coinciding with Milano Art Week and the Salone del Mobile. The exhibition, held at Via Lanzone 2 until April 24, 2026, features Italian postwar art and design in a space with architecture reinterpreted by Dimoregallery, including furnishings from Dimoremilano and creations by Interni Venosta. Key works include a 1983 Mappa by Alighiero Boetti made in Kabul, Afghanistan, notable for its embroidery and conservation, with borders containing Italian text. Other highlights are three works by Lucio Fontana: a 1968 Buco Bianco, a 1965 Concetto Spaziale, attesa, and a 1958 Tela with holes using aniline paint. Pieces by Carla Accardi, such as Blu Rosso from 1966, and a 1959 canvas by Piero Dorazio are also displayed. A Carmen Herrera work, estimated at $250,000–350,000, is set for auction in New York in May. Contemporary artists include Marinella Senatore, with a 2020 piece titled Remember The First Time You Saw your Name. Margherita Solaini, Phillips's Regional Director and Senior Specialist for Italy, describes the collaboration with Dimorestudio and the focus on important postwar Italian pieces. The exhibition emphasizes a dialogue between art and design, with historical items like Hans Agne Jacobsen lamps.
