Philip Morris Commissions Carlo Valsecchi for IQOS Factory Photo Series
The third edition of the biennial Foto/Industria, organized by Fondazione MAST in Bologna, features the exhibition 'Developing the Future' at Ex Ospedale dei Bastardini, running until November 19. The show presents a photographic reportage by Carlo Valsecchi (born 1965 in Brescia), commissioned by Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna to document its new plant in Crespellano, dedicated to large-scale production of IQOS heated tobacco products. The factory, inaugurated in 2016, represents the largest industrial investment in Italy in the last twenty years. Valsecchi's geometrically composed images aim to provoke reflection on the transition to alternative technology for societal benefit. The exhibition is part of a broader program of fourteen shows across Bologna venues.
