architecture-design · 2026-04-17

Drew Lang, an architect, along with builder Ravi Arps, has acquired the Booth House, designed by Philip Johnson, located in Bedford, New York, via their company RnD. Constructed in 1946 for Richard and Olga Booth, this 1,440-square-foot pavilion occupies a two-acre site at 319 Pound Ridge Road. As RnD's first venture, the house is set for an 18-month renovation before it is listed again. Booth House, notable as Johnson's initial residential project, showcases a central masonry fireplace and glass walls, supported by steel framing. Since 1955, Robert and Sirkka Damora have owned the property, which was priced at $2 million in 2010 and $1.9 million in 2024. RnD plans to document the restoration process, highlighting the concept of living architecture. Johnson's legacy has been reassessed since 2020.
