Philip Colbert's Lobster Sculptures Invade Pompeii in Largest Installation Yet
From July 28 until early 2027, the Archaeological Park of Pompeii will host 'Philip Colbert in Pompeii: Pop Mythology,' featuring over 30 of the artist's lobster sculptures. This marks the first contemporary sculpture exhibition at Pompeii in three decades and the inaugural showcase within its historic homes. Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli will inaugurate the event. Colbert's vibrant works, crafted from stainless steel and bronze, incorporate new robotic lobster warriors styled as 'future mythological relics.' Additional displays will appear at Villa of Poppaea and Villa Arianna. Colbert's upcoming show in the UK is set for later this year at The Lightbox Gallery.
