Philadelphia's Fishtown Showcases Diverse Street Art Amid Gentrification

Fishtown, a vibrant neighborhood in Philadelphia, is known for its mix of murals, graffiti, and street art, both approved and otherwise. The area is undergoing gentrification, attracting affluent newcomers from New York and Boston, which has pushed out many long-time residents. Some prominent artists in the scene include 2DX, AESOP ONE, and Calor Rosa, among others. Jaime Rojo captures these artistic moments in his photography, including shots from the Williamsburg Bridge in Manhattan, taken in Spring 2026. In a related note, 17-year-old Mellina Melezhik won Brooklyn’s first "Brooklyn Pin Design Competition" with her graffiti-inspired pin, which Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso has proudly worn. Recently, the King and Queen of the Netherlands visited to view a graffiti-themed façade, highlighting the ongoing debate between art and vandalism amidst global tensions, such as the Trump administration's conflict with Iran.
