Philadelphia Galleries Present African American Art Bequest and Multiple Exhibitions Through June

Philadelphia has received a bequest of works by African American artists. Chambers Fine Art is hosting an exhibition through June 17. At Vox Populi, Stephanie Bursese and Yvette Brackman are presenting work, while Patrick McCaughy has a show at Practice Gallery. Traction Company is exhibiting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. A retrospective featuring curiously and thoughtfully used materials continues through June 21. Two new video works explore cultural authenticity, with one simulating a holy site and another examining national identity formation. A survey of an American painter's career is currently on view.
