Phenomenon Biennial Returns to Greek Island of Anafi for Third Edition
From July 1 to 14, Anafi, a picturesque island in the Aegean Sea, will be the site of the third Phenomenon, a biennial contemporary art event. This initiative, put together by the Phenomenon association and the Kerenidis Pepe collection, features a lineup of artists like Eva Barto, Jason Dodge, and Eileen Myles, among others. Their works explore pressing political and social issues, pushing the boundaries of how art can contribute to community life without veering into populism. The event will include residencies, performances, talks, video screenings, and exhibitions throughout the island. Piergiorgio Pepe, a key collector, believes that art can help reshape society after years of harmful policies. The name Phenomenon draws inspiration from the island’s mythology, as told in Apollonius Rhodius's Argonautica.
