Petrit Halilaj Wins 2024 Stromboli Prize for Contemporary Art
Kosovar artist Petrit Halilaj has been awarded the 2024 Stromboli Prize for Contemporary Art, announced by ChertLüdde. The prize recognizes creators and researchers working in contemporary art, WEB3/digital fields, and academic research, taking its name from Stromboli Island's active volcano. Halilaj was chosen from five finalists: Yuri Ancarani, Benni Bosetto, Irene Fenara, and Renato Leotta. All finalists' works will be displayed in the exhibition 'Eroico (il) paesaggio' at the Church of San Bartolomeo on Stromboli Island, running until August 5, 2024. The exhibition coincides with a five-day celebration transforming the island into a multidisciplinary cultural hub. Halilaj dedicated his award to his late former professor Alberto Garutti and announced he will donate the prize proceeds to the Hajde! Foundation in Runik, Kosovo.
