Petition Demands Doriana Fuksas Be Included in IN/ARCH Career Award

A petition launched by Italian activist group RebelArchitette and VOW Architects calls for Doriana Fuksas to be recognized as co-recipient of the Premio alla Carriera Architettura awarded to her husband Massimiliano Fuksas by IN/ARCHLazio. The petition, addressed to IN/ARCHLazio President Amedeo Schiattarella and IN/ARCH National President Andrea Margaritelli, argues that Doriana and Massimiliano are equal partners and deserve equal recognition. It has garnered about 250 signatures, including prominent international architects. The award was announced on November 26, 2018, by the jury of romArchitettura, citing Fuksas's nearly fifty years of innovative contemporary architecture in Rome, Lazio, and worldwide. Schiattarella defends the decision, stating the prize is a personal career recognition for Massimiliano alone, not for the studio. The petition coincides with the #timefor50 campaign, launched the same day by RebelArchitette, which aims to monitor gender parity in architecture events. A report analyzing 411 events found that 153 had all-male speakers, and only 12% achieved parity or female majority. The petition is supported by both Fuksas spouses.
