Petit Palais launches Neapolitan season with Gemito and Giordano exhibitions
The Petit Palais in Paris has launched a Neapolitan season featuring exhibitions dedicated to Vincenzo Gemito (1852-1929) and Luca Giordano (1634-1705). Giordano's exhibition will be open from October 15, 2019, to February 23, 2020, while Gemito's will run until January 26, 2020. In collaboration with Museo di Capodimonte, these exhibitions represent the first comprehensive monographs of the two artists in France. Véronique Dollfus, the set designer, has transformed the Giordano galleries to resemble a Baroque church, whereas the Gemito section evokes late-19th-century Naples. The program also features conferences, concerts, and screenings, receiving favorable reviews from both the public and media. Bellenger highlighted the artists' provincialism and mentioned future exhibitions with the Pushkin Museum.
