Peter Lindbergh's Photographs of Giacometti at Fondation Giacometti

The Fondation Giacometti in Paris presents 'Alberto Giacometti ‒ Peter Lindbergh. Saisir l’invisible', an exhibition curated by Serena Bucalo-Mussely. It showcases the encounter between Giacometti's sculptures and Lindbergh's photography. Lindbergh, a pioneer of new realism in fashion photography, was commissioned in 2017 to photograph Giacometti's archive works. He freely selected and combined pieces from different periods, using close-ups and large-format prints to reveal details imperceptible to the naked eye. The exhibition highlights the shared obsession with the gaze as a gateway to personality. A comparative section juxtaposes Lindbergh's famous portraits with unpublished drawings by Giacometti, mostly from notebooks or book pages. The show runs until March 24, 2019, at the Institut Giacometti, 5 Rue Victor Schoelcher.
