Peter Halley's permanent installation at Brescia's drive-in art space

In May 2020, ART DRIVE-IN opened in Brescia inside the Garage of Agenzia Generali Brescia Castello, offering art viewable from inside a car. Now, the space managed by Associazione Bellearti (founded by gallerist Massimo Minini) has added a permanent installation by New York-based artist Peter Halley (b. 1953). Titled "Columns in 10 Colors," the work involves painting the garage pillars with bright monochrome squares in sequences of five. Halley's abstract style reflects the psychological pressure of contemporary society through geometric forms. The installation was created with students from Accademia di Belle Arti di Brescia SantaGiulia. Associazione Bellearti sees this as a signal of openness and artistic literacy beyond commercial logic. They also revealed plans for a PINACOTECA DRIVE-IN, a non-conventional museum accessible by car, to be realized in coming years. Other public works in Brescia include Pascale Marthine Tayou's "La Plage" (visible until October 21 in the Pusterla vineyard), two large structures by Jorrit Tornquist and Rasheed Araeen now in the Generali collection, and Daniel Buren's installation at Mirador di Pisogne.
