Peter Greenaway's 'Nightwatching' on Rembrandt finally in Italian cinemas
Peter Greenaway's acclaimed 2007 feature film 'Nightwatching' arrives in Italian cinemas this November, distributed by Lo Scrittoio. The ironic costume drama centers on Rembrandt's 1642 painting 'The Night Watch'. Greenaway, who has extensively engaged with art history through films, video installations, and his own painting, explores four themes around Rembrandt: money, sex, conspiracy, and painting. He poses the question of how a painter so wealthy and respected in the first half of his life could die in poverty. To present the film, Greenaway will meet audiences at four special screenings in collaboration with CG Entertainment: Saturday November 5 at Cinema Odeon in Florence, Sunday November 6 at Anteo spazioCinema in Milan (part of the Immaginarte series) and at Teatro Argentina in Rome, and Monday November 7 at the TTV Festival in Riccione.
