Peter Fend and Marina Xenofontos at Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples presents two concurrent exhibitions that explore ecological and archival themes through different artistic approaches. Peter Fend's 'Lavoro per Natura Vivente, non solo Capitali' transforms the historic halls of Palazzo Caracciolo di Avellino into an operational observatory. Developed from two residencies in Campania in 2024, the project investigates the Sarno and Volturno river basins using satellite imagery, cartography, and locally collected materials to propose strategies for marine cultivation, low-impact energy production, and autonomous community development. Fend's work merges art with science, architecture, and economics. Marina Xenofontos' 'Eternal, Returns' is her first institutional solo exhibition in Italy. Installed in frescoed rooms on the first floor, the show uses objects like curtains, furniture, and obsolete media such as CD-ROMs to rewrite memory. 'Carousel' (2022) features curtains from all rooms the artist has inhabited since 2001, bearing shadows of past windows and lives. 'Code of Construction' (2024) is a modular furniture piece inspired by Cypriot bedrooms that critically reconfigures colonial domestic narratives. The two exhibitions engage in dialogue with the ornate spaces of the foundation, with Xenofontos' work framing the frescoes as critical counter-frames and Fend's installations overlaying ancient topography with a new sustainable geography.
