Peter Demetz's First Spanish Solo Show at Lucia Mendoza Gallery
Peter Demetz, an Italian sculptor born in 1969 in Bolzano, is debuting his first solo exhibition in Spain, titled 'Inside View', at the Lucia Mendoza Gallery in Madrid, which will be open until April 7, 2018. This exhibition coincides with another display at Art Forum Contemporary in Bologna. Demetz showcases linden wood pieces sourced from Slovenian forests, which are small to medium in size and often depict one or two human figures, typically viewed from behind, encased in wooden box frames. The figures, sometimes semi-nude women, evoke a sense of introspection against geometric backdrops, enhanced by internal LED lighting. Trained in the South Tyrolean tradition, Demetz employs ancient woodcarving methods in a modern context. His work was previously featured at Estampa.
