Pescara's Ex Fea to Become Cultural Hub with Museum, Coworking, and Green Space

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

The long-awaited redevelopment of the Ex Fea, the former Pescara Porto station of the Penne-Pescara railway line abandoned since the 1960s, is set to transform into a dynamic cultural hub. SII srl (Società Italiana Immobili) won the regional tender for the concession. The parking lot managed by Pescara Multiservice will cease operation in early February 2021 to allow construction to begin. The project will include an international art museum, coworking spaces, a green garden, a culinary lab, and a local products store, all facing the Adriatic Sea along Lungomare Matteotti. Architecturally, existing buildings will be preserved and restored. Mayor Carlo Masci called it a high-level cultural structure. Assessor to Culture Mariarita Paoni Saccone expressed enthusiasm, noting it will host exhibitions and events, boosting tourism and the local economy. This initiative joins other recent cultural developments in Pescara, such as the Imago Museum by Fondazione PescarAbruzzo and LAS.fair, a new fair for young artists scheduled for May 28-30, 2021 at the Aurum multifunctional center.
