cultural-heritage · 2026-05-04

In 2019, Pesaro is set to open the Museo Nazionale Gioachino Rossini in honor of the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death. This new museum will occupy the entire piano nobile of the 18th-century Palazzo Montani Antaldi, which also houses the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro. Covering around 1,000 square meters, it will have ten historic rooms along with contemporary areas. The city is currently seeking proposals for management and design, with a deadline of May 21 at 1:00 PM. The project, which is backed by €450,000 from the municipality and additional visitor fees, will run from 2019 to 2028, totaling about €2.2 million. Deputy mayor Daniele Vimini mentioned that they will choose the most cost-effective and high-quality proposal. The initiative is also supported by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and the Marche Region, with an additional tender for multimedia content planned, funded by €1 million in public money. The museum will combine collections from the Fondazione Rossini and link to other Rossini-related sites in the city.
