exhibition · 2026-04-23

The Museu da Fotografia Fortaleza (MFF) presents the exhibition 'Estúdio de Arte Irmãos Vargas encontra Martín Chambi' from early June, curated by Diógenes Moura. Over 100 black-and-white photographs by Martín Chambi and brothers Carlos and Miguel Vargas Zaconet, created between 1912 and 1941, are displayed. These images poetically reveal Peruvian life during a period of significant political and social transformation, with artistic hubs in Lima, Cuzco, and Arequipa. All works belong to the museum's collection, which holds the largest archive of the Vargas brothers in Latin America. The MFF, inaugurated in 2017 with the Paula and Silvio Frota collection, also features a permanent exhibition. The exhibition is located at Rua Frederico Borges, 545, Varjota, with free admission.
