Perrotin launches podcast channel for contemporary art talks
Emmanuel Perrotin, the French gallerist with spaces in Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Tokyo, and Shanghai (totaling about 7,000 square meters across three continents), has launched a podcast channel on Perrotin.com featuring recordings of talks held since 2014 during major exhibitions. This follows David Zwirner's Dialogues podcast, which debuted on June 27, 2018, with Jeff Koons and Met curator Luke Syson discussing topics from reality TV to Plato's cave. Perrotin's channel includes, for example, a conversation between curator Matthieu Poirier and ArtNews editor Barbara MacAdam during the Hans Hartung exhibition "A Constant Storm. Works from 1923 to 1989" at Perrotin New York (January 12 – February 18, 2018). The move reflects a broader trend of mega-galleries diversifying into media, non-profits, and online platforms: Zwirner also opened an e-commerce platform run by influencer Elena Soboleva, while Ursula Hauser and Iwan Wirth are launching Ursula, a quarterly contemporary art magazine, and the Hauser & Wirth Institute, a non-profit supporting research and artist archives.
