cultural-heritage · 2026-04-11

The Pergamonmuseum on Berlin's Museumsinsel will reopen its first section on June 4, 2027, after years of renovation. The Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (SPK) announced the date, ending uncertainty. The Pergamon Altar will be visible again. The museum has been fully closed since autumn 2023. The renovation proceeds in two phases; the south wing, housing the Ishtar Gate and Babylonian Processional Way, will remain closed until 2037. Preparations for the reopening include fitting out galleries for the Antikensammlung, Museum für Islamische Kunst, and Vorderasiatisches Museum, as well as ticket areas and cloakrooms.
