Pérez Art Museum Miami presents 'Language and Image' exhibition from Jorge M. Pérez Collection

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is presenting 'Language and Image: Conceptual and Performance-based Photography,' the fourth exhibition drawn from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection. Featuring over 100 works by more than 50 international artists, the show explores photography's intersection with language, conceptual art, and performance. Curated by PAMM director Franklin Sirmans and Fabiana A. Sotillo, the exhibition includes works spanning nearly a century of photographic history. Artists include Marina Abramović, Vanessa Beecroft, Ana Mendieta, Olafur Eliasson, Alfredo Jaar, Rashid Johnson, Zanele Muholi, Vik Muniz, Cindy Sherman, Wolfgang Tillmans, Thomas Struth, Jonathas de Andrade, María Teresa Hincapié, and Isaac Julien. The exhibition is organized around thematic frameworks such as 'Landscape and Nature' and 'Collective Action,' examining concepts of identity, memory, social structures, and resistance. Jonathas de Andrade's installation 'Eu, Mestiço' confronts racial prejudice through contemporary Brazilian portraits juxtaposed with historical descriptors. The Jorge M. Pérez Collection has been amassed over 15 years and showcases photography's evolution from documentary tool to platform for activism and conceptual dialogue. The exhibition runs until 11 January 2026.
