Cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson explains that peptides, short chains of amino acids, stimulate collagen and elastin production, soothe lips, and reduce fine lines. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips notes that peptides enhance hydration, texture, and comfort. Despite the ingredient's popularity, few brands have successfully incorporated peptides into lip liners due to formulation challenges. Rhode's Peptide Lip Shape, launched in 2025, gained attention after the viral success of its lip treatment. However, Bobbi Brown and Victoria Beckham Beauty had already included peptides in their liners.
