Peppe Barra: 81-year-old Neapolitan performer reflects on a life in theatre, music, and film

At the age of 81, Peppe Barra debuted his autobiographical performance 'Buonasera a tutti. Dai miei disordinati appunti' at the GAM in Palermo, in collaboration with pianist Luca Urciuolo. The show, which artfully weaves together nostalgia and humor, earned a standing ovation. Born in Rome in 1944, Barra's earliest theatrical recollection is tied to the Trevi Fountain. He started his journey with Gennaro Vitiello and featured in De Simone's 'La Gatta Cenerentola'. Over his career, he has participated in 70 theatre productions, released 24 albums, and made nearly 20 appearances in film and television, including 'Lengua Serpentina' and John Turturro's 'Passione'. Barra expresses concern over the blending of theatre, cinema, and television, criticizing the impact of tourism on modern Naples.
