Pentaspace Design Studio Creates Ecological School Campus in Hyderabad with Living Forest Integration

Pentaspace Design Studio has completed the Heartfulness International School in Hyderabad, India, a pre-primary educational facility designed around ecological principles. The campus integrates architecture with a developing forest landscape, using vertical planting systems on cable frameworks to form evolving green facades that provide shading, cooling, and air filtration. Material selection focuses on exposed concrete and glass, with concrete walls offering thermal mass and low maintenance, while interior surfaces remain neutral to accommodate student drawings and murals. Spatial organization centers on an open courtyard connecting classrooms, supporting play, movement, and informal learning through wide corridors. Environmental strategies include solar energy for a net-zero energy balance, passive design measures like cross-ventilation and deep overhangs, and ground-level planting with vertical gardens for microclimatic regulation and biodiversity. The project, led by principal designers Gaurav Sanghavi, Pragya Sanghavi, and Harsh Pote with design team member Tejaswini Patil, emphasizes durability and adaptability, avoiding applied finishes.
