Pentagon Releases UFO Files, Credits Trump Transparency Push

The Pentagon has begun releasing new files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), stating that the public can draw their own conclusions. The effort is led by the Pentagon, White House, director of national intelligence, Energy Department, NASA, and FBI. In a Friday social media post, the Pentagon credited President Donald Trump for providing maximum transparency, contrasting with past administrations that sought to discredit the American people. Additional documents will be released on a rolling basis. Trump, a Republican, has teased the announcement since February and previously released records on the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr., which revealed little new. Congress created an office in 2022 to declassify UFO material, and its 2024 debut report found hundreds of new UAP incidents but no evidence of confirmed alien technology. Congress ordered the Pentagon to release decades of UFO files in 2022 after military members shared encounters with unexplained aircraft.
