Peggy Guggenheim retrospective in Venice explores her revolutionary collecting

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice presents 'Peggy Guggenheim. L’ultima Dogaressa', a retrospective marking 40 years since the collector's death. The exhibition traces her journey from opening Art of This Century in New York to acquiring Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in 1949, transforming it into a home and museum. It highlights her support for artists like Jackson Pollock, whose trajectory toward abstraction is central, alongside Italian figures Tancredi Parmeggiani, Edmondo Bacci, and Emilio Vedova, and British artists Graham Sutherland, Francis Bacon, and Reg Butler. Sculpture is emphasized with works by Jean Arp, Constantin Brâncuși, and Alberto Giacometti, while kinetic and optical art features Alberto Biasi, Heinz Mack, Franco Costalonga, and Marina Apollonio. The final room examines the CoBrA group and René Brô.
