Peggy Guggenheim Collection partners with CNR for preventive conservation

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice has collaborated with Italy's National Research Council (CNR) to improve preventive conservation measures and streamline visitor traffic. Launched last summer, this initiative included an analysis of air quality across different spaces within Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, with assistance from CNR, the Institute of Heritage Science (Ispc), and the Institute for Applied Computing "Mauro Picone" (Iac). Initial findings assessed visitor counts, duration of stay, and movement trends. Ongoing observations will concentrate on environmental factors and airborne pollutants in areas displaying works by Vasily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock, Umberto Boccioni, and Jean Arp. This information will contribute to a detailed preventive conservation strategy, focusing on innovative techniques for contemporary and modern art.
