Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Venice Academy Students Rediscover Postwar Venetian Artists

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice has launched a project titled '5 artisti veneti alla Collezione Peggy Guggenheim,' in which students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia researched and created videos about five Venetian artists from the museum's collection: Edmondo Bacci, Tancredi Parmeggiani, Giuseppe Santomaso, and Emilio Vedova. The initiative, conceived in 2021 for the 1600th anniversary of Venice, involved two student groups: one conducted bibliographic and archival research, while the other produced videos now available on the museum's YouTube channel. The project also yielded editorial products: five fanzines and a leporello containing five etchings. Museum director Karole P. B. Vail stated that the project aligns with the museum's goal of engaging young people and aspiring artists. The project coincided with an exhibition on Edmondo Bacci curated by Chiara Bertola, running until September 18. Accademia director Riccardo Caldura noted the generational continuity, as the students studied at the same institution where the featured artists once taught or studied.
