Peeping Tom's Triptych: A Lynchian Dance-Theatre Thriller

Belgian company Peeping Tom, led by Gabriela Carrizo and Franck Chartier, presents Triptych, a dance-theatre piece blending hyperrealistic aesthetics with film noir and surrealist influences. Originally created for Nederlands Dans Theater between 2013 and 2017, the work is now restaged for their own company. Triptych comprises three parts: The Missing Door, The Lost Room, and The Hidden Floor, set aboard a transatlantic ocean liner. The narrative follows an elderly man haunted by mental ghosts, exploring themes of lost love, memory, and subconscious fears through physically demanding choreography. The first two parts premiered in Italy at the Oriente Occidente festival as Diptych, while the full Triptych was shown at Torinodanza. The piece features a cinematic set that transforms across performances, with sequences including a woman's body dragged away, a child crying, a couple frozen in an embrace, and a room flooded with water. The work culminates in a shipwreck-like finale. Triptych will be performed at Festival Aperto in Reggio Emilia on November 6 and 7, 2021, alongside the premiere of La Visita, commissioned by Aperto from Collezione Maramotti.
