Peeping Tom's Meta-Theatrical Shipwreck in Turin

The Belgian dance-theater company Peeping Tom premiered their latest production, titled with GPS coordinates S 62° 58', W 60° 39', on September 20 at the Biennale de la Danse in Lyon. The show, now staged at Fonderie Limone di Moncalieri in Turin from November 23 to 25, features a large sailboat trapped in an Antarctic landscape, serving as a metaphor for the company's creative crisis. They voice personal regrets and demands: Romeu laments missing his son's childhood; Marie rejects submissive female roles, shouting 'Viva la vulva!'; Lauren wants an eco-sustainable show; Chey desperately wants to dance. Chartier, invisible, responds from the director's booth in a paternalistic tone. The performance abandons traditional choreography for a collective self-analysis, culminating in Romeu's monologue on the artist's identity, ending with him asking an audience member to escort him offstage into real life.
