Pedro Almodóvar's Five Restored Films to Screen in Italian Theaters

CG Entertainment launches the 'Corpi in prestito' (Borrowed Bodies) retrospective, bringing five restored Pedro Almodóvar films to Italian cinemas from June 10. The lineup includes 'Kika – Un corpo in prestito' (1993), 'Il fiore del mio segreto' (1995), 'Parla con lei' (2002), 'La mala educación' (2004), and 'Volver' (2006). The body serves as a unifying theme across these works from the 1990s and 2000s. 'Kika,' considered Almodóvar's most irreverent film, features costumes by Jean-Paul Gaultier and Versace and was released in Italy 15 months after its Spanish debut, restricted to viewers over 14. 'Il fiore del mio segreto' stars Marisa Paredes as a romance novelist whose plot foreshadows 'Volver.' 'Parla con lei' won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay; its narrative involves two women in comas and two men waiting, leading to tragedy. 'La mala educación,' partly autobiographical, follows two boarding school friends discovering their homosexuality, with a synopsis written by Almodóvar himself to conceal plot twists. 'Volver' features Carmen Maura and Penélope Cruz, celebrating female resilience against machismo, and includes a reference to Visconti's 'Bellissima.' The retrospective follows last year's successful 'La forma del desiderio' series, which focused on Almodóvar's 1980s films.
