Pedro Almodóvar retrospective 'La forma del desiderio' hits Italian cinemas June 15

CG Entertainment launches a Pedro Almodóvar film retrospective titled 'Pedro Almodóvar – La forma del desiderio' in Italian cinemas starting June 15, 2023. The program features five key films from the 1980s: 'L'indiscreto fascino del peccato' (1983), 'Che ho fatto io per meritare questo?' (1984), 'La legge del desiderio' (1987), 'Donne sull'orlo di una crisi di nervi' (1988), and 'Tacchi a spillo' (1991). 'L'indiscreto fascino del peccato' premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 1983, causing scandal with its story of a flamenco singer hiding in a convent of depraved nuns. 'Che ho fatto io per meritare questo?' is a noir comedy exploring a dysfunctional Spanish family. 'La legge del desiderio' won the Teddy Bear at the 1987 Berlin Film Festival and introduced Almodóvar to Italian audiences. 'Donne sull'orlo di una crisi di nervi' earned over 50 awards, an Oscar nomination, and box office records internationally. 'Tacchi a spillo' (1991) marks a transition from 1980s aesthetics to a new creative phase. The retrospective precedes Almodóvar's upcoming medium-length film 'Strange Way of Life' starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke, soon to be released on MUBI.
