Peccioli: Public Art Project in Ghizzano Features Tremlett, Kwade, Tuttofuoco

The small Tuscan village of Ghizzano, part of Peccioli, has inaugurated a new public art circuit called 'Tre progetti per Ghizzano'. The project, a collaboration between the Comune di Peccioli, Fondazione Peccioli per l'Arte, and Belvedere SPA, includes permanent works by David Tremlett, Alicja Kwade, and Patrick Tuttofuoco. Mayor Renzo Macelloni, recently re-elected, emphasized the importance of community consent, achieved through public assemblies over 18 months. Curator Antonella Soldaini and project manager Marcella Ferrari coordinated the initiative. Tremlett created colorful wall drawings on facades along Via di Mezzo, using green and brown to unify the street. Kwade, making her first permanent installation in Italy, produced 'SolidSky', a sphere and carved volume in Azul Macaubas stone. Tuttofuoco's 'Elevatio corpus' includes three sculptures in marble, neon, and iron inspired by Benozzo Gozzoli's frescoes. The project follows earlier public art in the area, including Tremlett's work at the Legoli landfill. Each artwork is accompanied by bilingual didactic panels.
