Pavlina Vagioni's Oikeiōsis at Venice Biennale Explores Belonging Through Sound and Sculpture
Greek artist Pavlina Vagioni will showcase her work titled Oikeiōsis at the 61st Venice Biennale, a Collateral Event organized by the Hellenic Diaspora Foundation, taking place at Spazio Tana from 6 May to 25 October 2026. The exhibition's name embodies a Stoic idea of belonging. Born in Athens in 1975 and currently residing in Houston, Vagioni's artistic practice spans sculpture, painting, sound, and digital media. The exhibition comprises two distinct spaces: Neikos (strife), featuring a polygonal plexiglass cube, and Philotes (harmony), which includes rock-salt seating and a hexagonal mirror, producing a complex vocal soundscape. Curator Dr. Laura Augusta emphasizes that the salt seats will evolve over six months, capturing visitors' memories. This marks the foundation's inaugural project outside of Greece.
