PAV Torino Turns 10: Cattelan's Guggenheim Debut and the Birth of Fashion Film

In 2018, the PAV – Parco d’Arte Vivente in Turin celebrated its tenth anniversary. Founded by Piero Gilardi in 2008, the experimental center merges art, nature, biotechnology, and ecology. The anniversary included the ongoing group show 'The God-Trick' curated by Marco Scotini, the conference 'Antropocene. Crisi ecologica e potenzialità trasformative dell’arte', and the performance festival Teatrum Botanicum. On September 23, the PAV opened to the public for a playful celebration. The article also revisits other 2008 milestones: Maurizio Cattelan's 'Daddy, Daddy'—a sculpture of Walt Disney's Pinocchio—debuted at the Guggenheim Museum in New York during the group show 'theanyspacewhatever' curated by Nancy Spector. Additionally, Diane Pernet launched ASVOFF (A Shaded View on Fashion Film) in 2008, the first festival dedicated to fashion films. ASVOFF has since traveled to venues like the Centre Pompidou, Cannes Film Festival, Art Basel Miami, Guggenheim, Caixa Forum Barcelona, and Barbican London. For its tenth edition, ASVOFF will be held in Rome from October 20 to 22, curated by Alessio de'Navasques at Palazzo Altemps, with a video contest themed 'Your personal love affair with Rome' (deadline October 10).
