Paul McCartney's unseen Beatles photos to be published in '1964: Eyes Of The Storm'
A book of unseen photographs taken by Paul McCartney during the Beatles' breakthrough year will be released globally on June 13. Titled '1964: Eyes Of The Storm', the volume contains over 270 images rediscovered in McCartney's archive in 2020. It focuses on the period when Beatlemania erupted in the UK, following the band's legendary US tour. The photos capture both on-stage performances and intimate behind-the-scenes moments across six cities: Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington D.C., and Miami. The Italian edition is published by La nave di Teseo, announced by Elisabetta Sgarbi. McCartney wrote the preface, describing the rediscovery as a flood of memories. The book includes essays by Jill Lepore, Nicholas Cullinan, and Rosie Broadley, along with McCartney's own reflections. A complementary exhibition, 'Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm', will run from June 28 to October 1, 2023, at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
