Paul McCartney's Rare Beatles Photos at Brooklyn Museum
Paul McCartney's personal photographs from the Beatles' 1963-64 US tour, previously shown at London's National Portrait Gallery, are now on view at the Brooklyn Museum through summer 2024. The exhibition, titled "Eyes of the Storm," features about 280 recently rediscovered images taken with McCartney's Pentax 35mm camera, capturing intimate moments of the band at the height of Beatlemania. The photos document the Beatles' journey from UK stages to performing before 73 million Americans on the Ed Sullivan Show, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and McCartney himself. McCartney also curated the project, which includes archival video clips. The images, both black-and-white and color, reveal the cultural revolution of 1960s New York City and the frenzy of the Beatles' legendary tour that catapulted them to global fame.
